PBSM anjurkan makan malam

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Sabtu, 30 Mei. - Kerajaan Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan dan Yang Di-Pertuan Negara Brunei Darussalam menghargai sumbangan persatuan-persatuan, badan-badan bukan kerajaan (NGOs), para sukarelawan termasuk Persatuan Bulan Sabit Merah (PBSM) Negara Brunei Darussalam kepada pemedulian masyarakat dan pembangunan negara.
Sumbangan yang diberikan seharusnya tidak dipandang ringan atau diperkecilkan oleh masyarakat kerana jika jumlah waktu masa dan tenaga yang disumbangkan serta produktiviti kerja sukarela yang dihasilkan diterjemah dan diukur dalam konteks waktu bekerja dan pendapatan kasar negara (KDNK) akan mencapai puluhan ribu jam dan puluhan juta ringgit setahun.

MENTERI Kebudayaan, Belia dan Sukan, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Perkerma Laila Diraja Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hazair bin Haji Abdullah ketika hadir selaku tetamu kehormat dalam Majlis Makan Malam Sempena Ulang Tahun Ke-67 Penubuhan Persatuan Bulan Sabit Merah Negara Brunei Darussalam.
Berucap demikian di Majlis Makan Malam Sambutan Ulang Tahun Penubuhan PBSM Negara Brunei Darussalam Ke-67, Menteri Kebudayaan, Belia dan Sukan, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Laila Diraja Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hazair bin Haji Abdullah menyatakan perkhidmatan seorang sukarelawan adalah dilihat lebih tinggi nilainya kerana ia berasaskan kepada keikhlasan hati nurani dan budi pekerti yang luhur yang tidak mengenal ganjaran dan upah.
Menyentuh mengenai sumbangan PBSM kepada masyarakat dan negara, Yang Berhormat menyatakan, ia adalah sangat bermakna dan besar nilainya dari aspek memberikan perkhidmatan bagi tujuan meringankan kesengsaraan dan penderitaan yang dialami oleh masyarakat setempat sama ada di waktu hari-hari biasa, perayaan-perayaan, bencana alam dan malapetaka.

Sempena Ulang Tahun Ke-67 Penubuhan Persatuan Bulan Sabit Merah Negara Brunei Darussalam.
"PBSM memberikan rawatan kecemasan barisan hadapan bagi menyelamatkan nyawa sebelum pesakit atau mangsa mendapatkan rawatan seterusnya," jelas Yang Berhormat.
Menurut Yang Berhormat, sumbangan PBSM dalam melatih dan mendidik para sukarelawan untuk sentiasa prihatin, bertanggungjawab dan bersifat ihsan kepada masyarakat yang memerlukan, sama ada dalam keadaan aman ataupun darurat, telah melahirkan barisan kepimpinan belia yang dedikasi, berintegriti dan dapat menyumbang kepada pembangunan negara melalui kerja-kerja kesukarelawanan.
Pada kesempatan itu, Yang Berhormat menyeru masyarakat umum di luar sana khususnya para belia negara untuk meningkatkan penglibatan diri dalam bidang kesukarelawanan sama ada secara persendirian mahupun melalui persatuan-persatuan sukarela seperti PBSM kerana, di samping ganjaran pahala di sisi Islam, penglibatan dalam bidang kesukarelawanan dan kemasyarakatan boleh menyediakan 'platform' peningkatan kapasiti dan pengalaman bagi melengkapkan keperibadian dan jati diri pada belia untuk menghadapi cabaran masa kini dan hadapan.

YANG Berhormat Menteri Kebudayaan, Belia dan Sukan menyampaikan Anugerah 'Henry Dunant Leaders Award'.
Majlis pada malam itu diselajurkan dengan penyampaian sijil-sijil penghargaan 'Jasa Bakti Pemimpin' kepada para pemimpin, ahli dan sukarelawan PBSM dan 'Henry Dunant Leaders Award' yang disempurnakan oleh Menteri Kebudayaan, Belia dan Sukan.
Turut hadir ialah perwakilan daripada International Committee of Red Cross, Claire Servoin dan Ketua Delegasi Fedoras Palang Merah dan Bulan Sabit Merah (IFRC), Anne Leclerc.
Objektif majlis diadakan adalah untuk memperingati Ulang Tahun Ke-67 Penubuhan PBSM Negara Brunei Darussalam yang diselajurkan bersempena dengan Hari Palang Merah dan Bulan Sabit Merah Antarabangsa yang dirayakan pada setiap 8 Mei di seluruh dunia yang bertemakan pada tahun ini ialah 'Memperingati 50 Tahun 7 Prinsip Fundamental Palang Merah dan Bulan Sabit Merah'.
Negara Brunei Darussalam menjadi ahli yang Ke-170 dalam Pertubuhan Palang Merah dan Bulan Sabit Merah Dunia dan mempunyai seramai 200 pegawai, ahli dan sukarelawan dari seluruh daerah.

Minister Urged Volunteers to Explore New Opportunities, Be Innovative

BERAKAS, BRUNEI-MUARA: Contributions made by associations, non-government organisations and volunteers should not be taken lightly. This is because, if the total time and energy as well as productivity produced by the volunteers are interpreted in the context of working hours and gross national income, it will reach thousands of hours or tens of millions of dollars per year.
Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Laila Diraja Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hazair bin Haji Abdullah, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports voiced the matter at a dinner reception in conjunction with the 67th Anniversary of the Brunei Red Crescent Association.
As an effort to ensure every volunteer body remains relevant in facing changing times and latest developments, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports urged all Red Crescent Association volunteer bodies to explore new opportunities and to be innovative for a series of programme in cooperating with government agencies with mutual interest. The programmes such as awareness programme to combat and reduce the vulnerability to disaster risk and programme to increase capacity in efficiency and response capabilities to deal with local emergencies. He added that such opportunities can be explored based on the action plans under the National Council for National Issues such as combating poverty, family institution and women, special needs people and senior citizens action plans. The increase in the number of cooperation programmes will create stronger synergies and at the same time can strengthen the social protection strategies towards achieving the Brunei Vision 2035.
The ceremony coincided with presentation of contribution amounting BND$13,000 from the officers and members as well as corporate volunteers of the Brunei Darussalam Red Crescent Association to the Director of Policy and National Strategic Planning of the association, as well as appreciation certificates to the Corporate Partner and the leaders of the association. The highlight of the event was the presentation of the Henry Dunant Leaders Award to Sheikh Kadir Abdullah, the Secretary-General of the Brunei Darussalam Red Crescent Association. The celebration ran concurrently with the International Red Cross and International Red Crescent Day that is celebrated worldwide on every May 8.

THE Brunei Darussalam Red Crescent Society celebrated its 67th anniversary with a ceremonial dinner last night.
Present as the guest of honour was Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Laila Diraja Dato Seri Setia Hj Hazair Hj Abdullah.
Over 200 officers, members and cadets of the society participated in the celebration.
The minister also handed over certificate of appreciations for the corporate partners who help fund the society’s developments, operations and activities.

Two-day Red Crescent course ends

TWENTY teachers from several schools around the country as well as 10 members from the Red Crescent branches in Kuala Belait, Tutong, and Brunei-Muara districts completed a two-day Red Crescent course yesterday.
The closing ceremony for the Red Crescent Colloquium Learning Module Programme — which was organised by the the Co-curriculum Department of the Ministry of Education and the Brunei Darussalam Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) — was held at Rimba II Secondary School.
Present as the guest of honour was the Director of Strategic Planning and Policy Development, Hj Ismail Kassim.
Also present was the Deputy Director of Red Crescent Brunei Muara, Pg Hj Yura Saiful Bahrin, the Red Crescent coordinator from the Co-curriculum department, Hj Md Sofeni Hj Abd Majid, the Secretariat Director for the Belait District Harris Hj Abd Latif and the programme’s facilitator, Fiona Barnaby from the International Committee of the Red Cross.
During the two days, the youth cadet officers were taught the basics and background of the Red Crescent, its seven fundamentals — Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity and Universality — and did group work.
The aim of the course was to enable participants to share the knowledge that they’ve gained to the youth cadets that they are supervising in their respective schools.
