Perlu peka dengan cabaran kepimpinan

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 8 Mei – Persatuan Bulan Sabit Merah (PBSM) Negara Brunei Darussalam perlu terus peka terhadap cabaran dalam kepimpinan dan cabaran untuk terus meningkatkan keupayaan kapasiti ahlinya dalam memastikan objektif penubuhan persatuan ini tetap terus relevan dan mampu memberikan perkhidmatan cemerlang kepada bangsa dan negara.

Menteri Kebudayaan, Belia dan Sukan menekankan, dalam era ekonomi dunia yang dihambat oleh pelbagai cabaran ini, seperti juga pergerakan atau persatuan yang lain, ahli-ahli PBSM Negara Brunei Darussalam perlu lebih pro aktif dalam memastikan keupayaan peningkatan diri sendiri terutama dalam mencari jalan untuk menjana pendapatan sebagai pemangkin Dana untuk membiayai kegiatan dan aktiviti serta urus tadbir organisasi.

Di Brunei Darussalam, ujar Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Mejar Jeneral (B) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, PBSM cukup sinonim dengan perkhidmatan pertolongan cemas.

Oleh itu, program latihan pertolongan cemas merupakan salah satu peluang yang boleh dikomersialkan sebagai produk menjana dana, tambah Yang Berhormat Pehin lagi semasa menyampaikan ucapan pada Majlis Perhimpunan Agung Kebangsaan Hari Palang Merah dan Bulan Sabit Merah Sedunia 2016 di Bilik Kuliah, Stadium Negara Hassanal Bolkiah, Berakas, di sini, hari ini.

Yang Berhormat Pehin seterusnya berkata, Akademi Pertolongan Cemas PBSM Negara Brunei Darussalam yang ditubuhkan pada tahun lalu telah pun mendapat pengiktirafan daripada Persekutuan Antarabangsa Persatuan Palang Merah dan Bulan Sabit Merah, sekali gus diberikan pengiktirafan antarabangsa untuk mengeluarkan sijil-sijil pertolongan cemas.

Menurutnya, PBSM Negara Brunei Darussalam memainkan peranan yang amat penting dalam memberikan perkhidmatan pertolongan cemas.

Yang Berhormat Pehin melahirkan harapan agar semua warga PBSM Negara Brunei Darussalam akan terus komited dalam memberikan perkhidmatan pertolongan cemas sebagai wadah fundamental kepada pergerakan kemanusiaan yang sudah sebati dalam diri semua semenjak 68 tahun yang lalu.

Pada majlis perhimpunan agung berkenaan, Yang Berhormat Pehin turut menyempurnakan penyampaian surat lantikan dan sijil tauliah pangkat penghormatan kepada ahli lembaga penasihat.

Tetamu kehormat menyampaikan surat lantikan dan sijil tauliah pangkat kepada seorang anggota PBSM.

Presiden PBSM Negara Brunei Darussalam, Haji Ismail bin Kassim dalam ucapannya berkata, penerimaan surat lantikan dan sijil tauliah pangkat penghormatan adalah satu tanggungjawab dan amanah yang perlu dipikul dengan berani, kekuatan dan kemantapan.

“Segala cabaran mestilah diterima dengan perpaduan dalam satu kumpulan yang berhemah dengan panduan serta limpah rahmat Allah jua. Semestinya jua ia diterima kerana telah dimandatkan dengan pilihan yang diadakan secara undi kepercayaan dan pilihan,” jelasnya lagi.

Beliau juga mengucapkan jutaan terima kasih dan penghargaan atas bantuan dan sokongan yang telah diberikan oleh pihak kerajaan Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan dan Yang Di-Pertuan Negara Brunei Darussalam.

PBSM Negara Brunei Darussalam ditubuhkan dengan matlamat utama untuk mewujudkan sebuah badan pergerakan kemanusiaan yang bertaraf antarabangsa tanpa perbezaan politik bangsa, agama dan bersesuaian dengan tujuh prinsip asas yang diamalkan oleh Persatuan Palang Merah dan Bulan Sabit Merah Sedunia.

PBSM anjur Kursus Asas Latihan Sokongan Nyawa

KUALA BELAIT, 29 Jan – Persatuan Bulan Sabit Merah (PBSM) telah menganjurkan Kursus Asas Latihan Sokongan Nyawa untuk meningkatkan kemahiran kalangan ahli-ahlinya, yang diadakan di Jalan Nakhoda Ragam di sini.

Lebih 10 orang ahli jawatankuasa tinggi persatuan tersebut telah menyertai kursus selama tiga hari berkenaan yang berakhir hari ini.

Pengarah Daerah PBSM cawangan Daerah Brunei-Muara, Awang Mohd Hilhamd bin Haji Johari memberitahu, kursus tersebut difokuskan kepada mengajar para peserta tentang perkara-perkara penting mereka ketahui sebelum memberikan latihan atau mengajar orang awam.

Menurutnya, kursus itu juga menekankan tentang Bantuan Kecemasan, serta memberikan keyakinan kepada peserta bagaimana mengajar secara praktikal semasa menyelamatkan mangsa yang patah dan sebagainya dengan cara betul dan cekap.


Kursus Latihan Basic Life Support yang diberikan kepada ahli-ahli Persatuan Bulan Sabit Merah cawangan Daerah Belait.

“Semasa mengajar atau memberikan latihan kepada orang awam, ahli-ahli PBSM berkenaan perlu faham dan tahu apa yang diajarkan dan bukannya mengajar secara dirangkum sekali gus, ianya hendaklah secara berperingkat, paling penting mudah difahami serta menunjukkan cara yang betul tentang memberikan bantuan CPR, dan juga penggunaan peralatan tertentu dalam bantuan kecemasan,” katanya.

Kursus seperti itu diadakan tiga kali setahun, iaitu secara ulang kaji pada awal tahun, dan akan diteruskan pada pertengahan tahun dan akhir tahun jika diperlukan, serta tergantung permintaan, yang mana ia turut diadakan di daerah Temburong, Tutong dan Brunei-Muara.

Prihatin, bantu golongan susah

KUALA BELAIT, 22 April – Sejarah hidupnya yang pernah hidup susah menjadi dorongan kepada seorang ahli perniagaan berjaya untuk melibatkan diri dalam pelbagai projek membantu masyarakat yang memerlukan.

Pengarah AE Asia Agri-Mart Sdn Bhd, Chai Yum Fatt, 61, semasa ditemui Media Permata, hari ini, memberitahu bahawa beliau merancang untuk meneruskan projek membantu masyarakat yang memerlukan dan warga emas dengan menubuhkan dana kebajikan di syarikatnya dalam masa yang terdekat.

Beliau yang sebelum ini pernah ditauliahkan sebagai Timbalan Presiden Persatuan Bulan Sabit Merah (PBSM) bagi sesi 2014 hingga 2016, juga pernah memegang jawatan sebagai Pengerusi PBSM pada awal penglibatannya dengan persatuan tersebut bagi sesi 2010 hingga 2012.

Bagaimanapun, beliau yang begitu aktif mengendalikan dan mengadakan pelbagai program kemasyarakatan dan lainnya di sepanjang penglibatannya sebagai pemimpin di PBSM cawangan Belait dan juga pusat, semalam, telah mengambil keputusan untuk menarik diri daripada terus menjadi ahli PBSM atas alasan peribadinya.

Chai Yum Fatt, turut menafikan sumber mengatakan bahawa beliau tidak lagi berminat dalam projek kemasyarakatan kebelakangan ini, dengan menjelaskan bahawa keputusan untuk berundur itu diambil sebab kesibukan perniagaan yang dijalankannya dan juga perkara membabitkan urusan Pusat Pembekal Satu Hentian yang dijangka akan mula beroperasi tidak lama lagi di kawasan Pertanian Betumpu, Kampung Bengkurong Masin, Daerah Brunei dan Muara.

“Saya tidak akan dapat lari daripada membantu masyarakat yang memerlukan, kerana sejarah hidup saya juga pada awalnya pernah hidup susah, dan saya memahami keadaan mereka yang memerlukan bantuan.

“Selain membantu masyarakat, saya juga berhasrat untuk terus memberikan sokongan kepada usaha kerajaan dalam membantu peladang tempatan,” ujar beliau yang mempunyai lebih 20 tahun pengalaman dalam bidang pertanian dan tidak pelas mengalami ‘rebah bangun’ dalam perusahaannya.

Beliau juga memberitahu, dalam sedikit masa lagi, beliau akan memulakan semula aktiviti program kemasyarakatannya dan akan menemui jabatan-jabatan yang pernah memberikan kerjasama kepadanya sebelum ini.

“Saya akan mengadakan aktiviti-aktiviti amal yang boleh membantu kalangan warga emas, kanak-kanak istimewa, anak-anak yatim serta masyarakat memerlukan, semoga syarikat saya akan terus berkembang dan saya akan dapat terus memberikan khidmat kemasyarakatan kepada mereka yang memerlukan,” ujarnya sebelum mengakhiri perbualan bersama Media Permata.

Sepanjang berada dalam PBSM, Chai Yum Fatt, banyak melibatkan diri menggerakkan ahli-ahli jawatankuasa yang lain untuk sentiasa turun padang memberikan kerjasama dengan Jabatan Bandaran Kuala Belait dan Seria dalam Projek Penghijauan malah beliau juga menghulurkan sumbangan menaja baja-baja dan racun-racun serangga dalam projek tersebut.

Selain itu, beliau juga aktif turun padang bersama Jabatan Pembangunan Masyarakat (JAPEM) Daerah Belait bagi membuat penyelidikan mengenal pasti penduduk yang memerlukan bantuan serta mengendalikan aktiviti-aktiviti bersama JAPEM dalam memeduli kalangan warga emas.

Tidak ketinggalan, beliau juga memberikan sokongan dalam pengendalian Program Latihan Pertolongan Cemas dan pernah terlibat bekerjasama dengan Hospital Suri Seri Begawan, Kuala Belait dan juga Jabatan Daerah serta Jabatan Pertanian dan lain-lain.

Majlis Tahlil Persatuan Bulan Sabit Merah

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 23 Jun – Persatuan Bulan Sabit Merah Daerah Brunei dan Muara, hari ini, telah mengadakan Majlis Tahlil dan Doa Arwah yang diselajurkan dengan majlis berbuka puasa yang berlangsung di rumah Setiausaha Agung Persatuan Bulan Sabit Merah, Sheikh Kadir Abdullah, di Jalan Kumbang Pasang, Gadong.

Bacaan Surah Yasin, Tahlil dan Doa Arwah telah dipimpin oleh ahli Persatuan Bulan Sabit Merah Daerah Brunei dan Muara, Koperal Awangku Mohd Zahiruddin bin Pengiran Badaruddin.

Seramai 25 orang sukarelawan dari sekolah menengah dan 15 orang pegawai daripada persatuan tersebut telah menghadiri majlis berkenaan yang merupakan aktiviti tahunan persatuan itu di bulan suci Ramadan ini.

Red Crescent Society told to be more resourceful

THE Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports yesterday called on the Brunei Darussalam Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) to be more self-reliant in the face of many challanges.

Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (R) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yusof said like many other associations, BDRCS must be more resourceful especially in finding ways to generate income to finance activities, events as well as governance of the association.

Speaking during BDRCS's National General Assembly yesterday, the Minister said in Brunei, the BDRCS is synonymous with first aid services (Perkhidmatan Pertolongan Cemas).

"First aid training programmes is an opportunity that can be commercialised as products to generate funds."

"With the establishment of Brunei Darussalam Red Crescent First Aid Academy last year, I am made to understand that the academy has already received recognition from the International federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Society (IFRC)."

The minister added that the academy has also been awarded international recognition for issuing first aid certification.

The BDRCS also working together with relevant agencies in the country to prepare first aid programmes that are more comprehensive and suitable with the national module.

"The BDRCS play an important role in providing first aid services and I am proud of the developments made by the association," said YB Pehin Dato Haji Halbi.

"Approaching its 68th year, the association has been successful. Youths are given the opportunity and trust to become leaders in the national executive board and this is progress in closing gap between leadership of past generation and future generation."

The minister said the BDRCS must remain alert to the challenges in leadership and continue to improve the capacity of its members to ensure the objectives of the association will remain relevant as well as to provide outstanding service to the nation.

YB Pehin Dato Haji Halbi also expressed his gratitude to the BDRCS in providing assistance during national disasters.

"The society is also active in providing assistance to those in need by organising charity and humanitarian projects," he noted.

YB Pehin Dato Haji Halbi hoped the BDRCS will continue to be commited in providing first aid services as the fundamental platform to the humanitarian movement.

The ceremony also saw sixteen members of the BDRCS who were conferred ranks by the minister.

THE Brunei Darussalam Red Crescent Society will be collecting donations from the public to help those in need in preparation for the month of Ramadhan.

The event, called "Program Infaq Jariah", will be held on May 5 from 8am to 5pm at the foyer of the VVIP Parking at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium.

"This is part of our humanitarian effort to help those in need and alleviate some of their burden," said Faizal Gurie, Cheif Officer of Communication and Public Relations for the Brunei Darussalam Red Crescent Society during a phone interview.

He added that members of the public are invited to donate clothing  and daily necessities such as rice, sugar, biscuits and canned food, among others.

"We are communicating with the district offices  and Community Development Department (JaPeM) (to find out who needs the help)," said Faizal.

These donations will then be distributed to the elderly, the poor, the underprivileged from all four districts under the Red Crescent's "Program Kembara Projek Ikhlas" which will be held in all four districts throughout Ramadhan.

According to Faizal, this collection is among one of the activities planned in conjunction with World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day 2016.

These donations will then be distributed to the elderly, the poor and the underprivileged from all four districts under the Red Crescent’s “Program Kembara Project Ikhlas” which will be held in all four districts throughout Ramadhan.
According to Faizal, the collection is among one of the activities planned in conjunction with World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day 2016.

Inisiatif dan pendekatan PBSM dialu-alukan

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 6 Mac – Kementerian Kesihatan amat mengalu-alukan inisiatif dan pendekatan yang diambil oleh Persatuan Bulan Sabit Merah (PBSM) Kebangsaan dalam membincangkan mengenai Kertas Putih Pelan Tindakan PBSM Kebangsaan, Negara Brunei Darussalam yang menumpukan kepada strategi, matlamat dan hala tuju strategik persatuan berkenaan.

“Pihak Kementerian Kesihatan sangat mengalu-alukan inisiatif ini terutama sekali dalam keadaan negara yang menghadapi keadaan ekonomi global yang tidak menentu dan pelbagai cabaran kesihatan termasuk peningkatan jumlah kes penyakit-penyakit tidak berjangkit (NCDs) serta penyakit-penyakit berjangkit yang baru dan juga yang lama.”

Oleh itu, kerjasama yang erat di antara Kementerian Kesihatan dan PBSM Kebangsaan amat diperlukan dalam sama-sama memikul tanggungjawab dan memainkan peranan dalam meningkatkan kesedaran orang ramai mengenai pentingnya untuk menjaga kesihatan serta menekankan bahawa kesihatan merupakan peranan semua.

Perkara itu ditekankan oleh Timbalan Setiausaha Tetap (Profesional) di Kementerian Kesihatan, Dr. Hajah Maslina binti Haji Mohsin, ketika berucap pada Majlis Perasmian Mesyuarat Agung PBSM Kebangsaan, Negara Brunei Darussalam ke-6, hari ini.

Dr. Hajah Maslina menyatakan bahawa Kementerian Kesihatan amat menghargai dan mengalu-alukan inisiatif Persatuan Bulan Sabit Merah Kebangsaan dalam bersama-sama berusaha untuk meningkatkan kesedaran orang ramai mengenai pentingnya untuk menjaga kesihatan serta menekankan bahawa kesihatan adalah peranan semua.

Usaha dan khidmat bakti yang dihulurkan oleh PBSM Kebangsaan amat dihargai oleh pihak Kementerian Kesihatan, jelas beliau lagi yang hadir selaku wakil peribadi Menteri Kesihatan pada majlis yang berlangsung di Stadium Negara Hassanal Bolkiah.

Kementerian Kesihatan, ulas Dr. Hajah Maslina, amat menghargai kerjasama padu daripada persatuan berkenaan dalam usaha melindungi kesihatan dan kesejahteraan awam serta juga mendukung ke arah mempromosi serta menyerapkan cara hidup sihat kepada meningkatkan kualiti kehidupan masyarakat dan penduduk negara serta merealisasikan visi Kementerian Kesihatan 2035 iaitu Bersama Ke Arah Warga Sihat.

Beliau turut menyatakan harapan kementeriannya supaya persatuan itu akan lebih aktif dan bekerjasama dengan agensi-agensi kerajaan yang relevan dalam menghulurkan khidmat bakti dan bantuan kepada mereka yang memerlukan secara sukarela.

Di samping itu, Dr. Hajah Maslina juga melahirkan keyakinan bahawa usaha itu dapat menyerapkan ke dalam diri ahli-ahli persatuan sikap dan keperibadian untuk menjadi masyarakat yang penuh bertanggungjawab, berdisiplin, berintegriti, pemedulian dan prihatin pada negara dan masyarakat serta mendukung kepada pencapaian matlamat Wawasan 2035.
