Kuala Belait: Red Crescent Association of Brunei
Darussalam held its first National Executive Board Meeting Session 2013
to 2015 at the branch office in Kuala Belait.
Four new Executive Committee Members were appointed for the new
session at National Stadium in Berakas; Hj Julaini Hj Abd Latip was
appointed as the new President, Chai Yum Fat as the Vice President,
Secretary General Hj Sheikh Abd Kadir Abdullah and Treasurer Pg Hj
Yussof Pg Hj Bahar. All four new members were appointed based on
majority votes.
The first discussion was chaired by Hj Julaini where it discussed
various agendas including transforming the association as a-still
relevant entity, to be more resourceful in terms of delivering quality
humanitarian services.
Members also agreed to prepare programmes for youths whereby the
association was tasked with devising strategies to include youths with
potential to hold executive positions in the establishment, pushing it
further into development.
A special budget has been approved by the association for the
Director of Youths, reflecting the group’s dedication to youth as future
leaders. First aid courses and training in emergency response will be
activated with fees in accordance with the best practices of Red
Crescent Associations worldwide.
To facilitate these plans, Red Crescent will put pen to paper
Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with the same associations from across
Asia to improve its training programmes.
Additionally, the convention allowed for restructuring of the
organisation’s positions nationwide while discussing possible future
visits to Red Crescent / Red Cross Associations overseas as one of their
main ventures in the not so distant future.
Hj Julaini encouraged youths to participate in works sponsored by the
association but urged them to not limit themselves to medical-related
activities, but also humanitarian works. ©BRUDIRECT.COM
