THE big-hearted efforts by the Community and Resilient Empowerment (CARE) and Brunei Darussalam Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) in facilitating and participating in the public donations of school books are examples of their invaluable contribution towards the less privileged section of society.
The donations were collected and sorted at Room 8, the VVIP car park of Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium.
Hisham Ismail, the Director of CARE, explained that the activity dubbed ‘Project Ikhlas 5.0’ for Basic School Necessities 2017 featured primarily donations of school books and other school items from the general public to be later distributed to children from underprivileged families.
He added that their target of around 100 schoolchildren is well within reach, as the response from the public was excellent.
The personnel who participated in the one-day session comprised members of the BDRCS, Hisham added.

The much-needed school items included school bags, school uniforms, stationery, school workbooks, shoes, songkok and tudong, among others.
This was the first time that donations were managed specifically for schoolchildren.
In the past, CARE was actively involved with donations for victims of fire incidents.
