THE
Brunei Darussalam Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) will start collecting
donations for its Programme Kembara Project Ikhlas in the Brunei-Muara
district today.
Contributions will be accepted from 8am to 5pm at the VVIP parking lot foyer at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium.
Part of a charity drive called
Programme Infaq Jariah, the project involves collecting donations to be
distributed to the elderly, the poor and the underprivileged to help
them prepare for the month of Ramadhan.
Speaking to The Brunei Times,
Director of Communication and Public Affairs of BDRCS Faizal Gurie
welcomed members of the public to donate items and daily necessities
such as clothing, rice, sugar, biscuits and canned foods.
“We will accept any form of donations
except monetary,” he said, adding that similar programmes will also be
held in the other districts.
“We will have a loading area in every district for members of the public to drop off donations,” he said.
The project is among the activities planned in conjunction with World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day 2016 which falls on May 8.
